Hello everyone!
My name is Darian (one of the few things my parents agreed upon), and I was born in a small southern town in Cuba, twenty-four years ago. I have been living in America since 2017. Personally, I could say I am an old-fashioned soul. The music I usually listen to is from the seventies, eighties, and nineties. I love rock and R&B, but I can enjoy any type of music that feeds my soul and is not a mere product of a computer.
Regarding my academic experience, when I was in Cuba I studied Law for three years in the University of Artemisa, but my life passion was to become a journalist and a writer. Here in America, I have been given an opportunity to become the person and professional I have always desired to be, and I intend to seize this chance at the best of my capacity. I am looking forward to a fruitful class.

Hey Darian, I found your first blog post very engaging as you explained your path of wanting to become a journalist and writer coming from being a law student in Cuba for three years. I can also relate to what you said about following your passion because I once was studying to be a nurse in my early college career, but I noticed it wasn’t my calling and I felt my passion was more in the media/advertising field. As for my music taste, I’m also into various genres of music, but I would say my preferences would be Hip-Hop/Rap and Alternative music. I hope to work together with you this semester since we sit next to each other. Good luck with your studies this semester!

Good to be with you in class again Darian! We had astronomy together in the fall with Dr.Thompson. I admire your ambition to become a writer, especially since you left home to do so, which must be hard. For only being here since 2017 you speak very good English! I say that because I have family here in the states from Puerto Rico ( ya tu sabes ) who don’t speak as clearly as you despite having lived here for over 30 years. You seem to have all the tools and skills necessary to become an excellent writer and I’m glad to be on the same path with you brother!
